Opportunities

QUARTERLY NEWSLETTER: UHNA needs volunteers to write articles pertaining to
Hill life, especially articles that address quality of life issues.
Also looking for news-bites about Hill neighbors to include in our
"social" section...(e.g. baby births, marriages, etc.).
Distributors are also needed to deliver the bi-monthly newsletter
door to door. If you can't commit for every issue, volunteer
as a delivery back-up. Please email
UHNA-Newsletter@yahoogroups.com if you're interested in joining
the team or to submit material.

ICE BUSTERS: The city of Boulder's
ICEBUSTERS program is looking for neighbors interested in helping
their neighbors. Elderly or disabled residents who are unable to
shovel their own walks are paired with volunteers who take a view
minutes after each snowfall to keep Boulder's sidewalks safe.
Please consider this worthwhile contribution to our community.
Volunteers and people that need assistance can call Mary Neumann in
the Housing and Human Services Dept.
at 303-441-3157 to get more information.

BCOP Program:
The
Boulder Police Department (BPD) is offering to partner with Hill
residents to
form a branch of their Boulder Citizens On Patrol (BCOP)
program. BCOP has been used in the past by
Boulder neighborhoods who wanted to address specific safety issues
in their neighborhood. UHNA has been working with the BPD to
customize this program for the unique circumstances on the Hill.
The BPD is offering a four hour training course for
anyone interested. Once trained, members will coordinate safety
walks on the Hill, primarily during the evening hours, with the
BPD. The BPD has formulated guidelines for practices and protocols
of the BCOP program. Members would walk in teams and report
incidents to the BPD by calling 911 or police dispatch. If
interested, email the
Webmaster for more information on the next training session.
